Minfy’s Migration Road Map Reduces a large BFSI’s Time to Market, Costs and Performance

The Requirement

• 6 DCs across the globe targeted to consolidate in AWS (All in cloud)
• 1200+ physical servers hosted in two DCs with nearly end of life hardware (Phase 1 of DC consolidation project)
• Mission critical applications (87) needed to be migrated in a highly secured and controlled approach
• Applications were custom built/home grown lacks KBs & interdependencies are unclear

Solution Overview

• Implemented a hybrid approach for deployments, roll-backs, and database replication
• Used common tools on AWS and data center environment for monitoring, configuration management, and security needs
• Private network connectivity was established between existing data centers and AWS using AWS Direct Connect
• Used Route53’s Private DNS to eliminate the need for hardcoded application and database endpoints
• Implemented advanced security AWS CloudTrail, Inspector, WAF, Guard Duty, and Lambda and
• Used Terraform for infrastructure orchestration and environment replication Deployed applications across multiple availability zones for high availability
• Leveraged S3 for infrequent access and Glacier for low-cost backup and long-term archival needs

Benefits

A stepwise approach by aligning all the stakeholders coupled with a Cloud Centre of Excellence meant the client has developed the capability to handle the migration process in a speedy and well-calibrated manner.
